Work on Metro Line 20, a rapid transit rail line connecting Terminal 4 of Shenzhen International Airport with the new Shenzhen International Convention and Exhibition Center—two major facilities that are under planning and construction—was launched last week.

The 8.36-km rail line, with a total investment of 8.5 billion yuan (US$1.23 billion), has five stations including three transfer stations.

Passengers can transfer to Line 11 at Airport North Station, which will be connected to Metro Line 2 of Dongguan City.

According to the construction plan, the project was initiated early because it is a key auxiliary project of the new convention and exhibition center, which will be put into use in 2018.

The rail work is a key project to support the development of the airport area, especially Terminal 4, and to enhance connection with Chang'an in Dongguan City.
