Please Note

The annual outdoor feast, Shenzhen Fringe Festival, will open tomorrow in Nanshan District.

The festival, which sets its main stage on public streets, is an attempt to bring free and diverse cultural activities and public art to the people of Shenzhen. The festival hopes to blend art into daily life and bring more energy to the city.

The festival was launched by local designers in 2010, in the form of a nonprofit organization operating under the support of the government. It brings art into urban public spaces and communities and gets involved in public life. Shenzhen follows the world fringe’s spirit of diversity, pioneering and freedom. It aims to adopt an open, tolerant and independent attitude, focusing on international exchanges and cooperation in diverse cultural and artistic activities, community interaction and education.

This year, most of the events will be held at the streets and Wenxin Square near Coastal City and the square in front of Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center.

The open-air programs, including rock shows, living statues, dramas, workshops and parades, are free to the public. Check what’s going on this weekend and a full schedule
