More than 100 ancient Guanyin statues and paintings on loan from Capital Museum in Beijing are on display at Shenzhen Museum at the newly opened The Wisdom of Achieving Inner Peace exhibition.
The exhibition is divided into Han Buddhism and Tibetan Buddhism sections, featuring wood, porcelain and copper-gilt statues of Guanyin, the bodhisattva of compassion.
The most striking piece is a qingbai (green-white) porcelain statue made in Jingdezhen during the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1279) and unearthed in Beijing in 1964. With a beaming and peaceful expression, the Guanyin is folded under a voluminous robe.

Qingbai ware, which is made with a white porcelain body and fired with a blue-green tinted glaze, is a type of Chinese porcelain that was produced during the Song (960-1279) and Yuan (1271-1368) dynasties. It was made in Jiangxi Province in southeastern China across several locations including Jingdezhen.

Guanyin exhibits in the style of Tibetan Buddhism are mostly copper-gilt green tara. Some bodhisattva statues bear striking Indian Gandhara art and Nepalese features.
本次展览由深圳博物馆联合首都博物馆共同举办，展出中国汉藏两大佛教体系观音造像一百多尊，包括铜造像、绘画、瓷塑以及木雕等多种质地。展览分为“汉传佛教中的观音菩萨”和“藏传佛教中的观音菩萨”两大单元，较为全面地呈现了汉藏两地观音信仰的基本面貌及传播历史，展示了观音造像艺术的发展与演变历程。
观音是中国佛教乃至世界佛教中流传最广泛、影响最深远也最受尊崇的菩萨，又名“观世音”、“观自在”。观音经典《心经》代表了大乘般若思想精髓，观音信仰集中体现了佛教慈悲济世的宗教理想与根本追求。佛教于东汉时期传入中国汉地，观音信仰也随之传入，并与汉藏传统文化相融合，艺术风格逐渐民族化，最终演变成为中国影响最广、家喻户晓的佛教尊神，形成了内涵丰富、形式多样的观音文化与艺术体系。观音信仰已成为中华民族传统文化的重要组成部分。
本次展览可以让市民观众领略中国汉藏两地不同历史时期观音菩萨的艺术形象与魅力，感受中西文明交流的成果以及中华民族传统文化的兼容并包与博大精深。同时，可更深入地了解汉藏两地宗教及文化艺术的交流与互动。
