SZ inks 8-billion-yuan deals at CIIE

The Shenzhen delegation inked deals totaling 8 billion yuan (US$1.15 billion) at the China International Import Expo (CIIE) that concluded Saturday in Shanghai.

The deals covered automobiles and spare parts, intelligent and high-end equipment, consumer electronics and household appliances, apparel and consumer goods, food and agricultural products, as well as service trading.

Suppliers from more than 50 countries, as well as more than 200 buyers from Shenzhen and 20 financial service institutes, attended a match-making meeting organized by the Shenzhen delegation during the expo last week.

The CIIE was held to support trade liberalization and economic globalization. It is an open international cooperation platform built by China to facilitate foreign trade.

The expo is organized into two sections: goods and services.

The section for trading goods covers a total area of 180,000 square meters, while the section for services, comprising tourism services, emerging technologies, culture and education, creative design and service outsourcing, covers 30,000 square meters of the National Exhibition and Convention Center in Shanghai.

In the six days, the CIIE attracted 400,000 buyers from home and abroad. A total of 3,617 enterprises from 151 countries and regions attended the expo, showcasing a total of 570 products and technologies that are either new to China or the world. A total of 3,600 overseas buyers from 72 countries and regions attended the expo.

According to the expo organizer, the fair saw the signing of deals of intent worth a total of US$57.8 billion, including US$16.4 billion in intelligent and high-end equipment, US$4.33 billion in consumer products and US$11.99 billion in automobile and spare parts.

Countries under the Belt and Road Initiative inked deals worth US$4.72 billion.
