Seven Shenzhen firms are ranked among the top 100 in terms of the social responsibility development index of China’s top 300 enterprises in 2018, according to a blue paper on corporate social responsibility issued by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences recently.
The blue paper, which adopted an index evaluation system and additional indicators related to targeted poverty alleviation, collected the responsibility information voluntarily disclosed by enterprises from such public channels as corporate social responsibility reports, financial reports and official corporate websites.
The responsibility information covered the top 300 Chinese enterprises, particularly the top 100 State-owned enterprises, top 100 private enterprises, top 100 foreign-funded enterprises and enterprises from 10 key industries in 2018.
Seven Shenzhen companies made it onto the top 100, namely ZTE, Huawei, BYD, China Ping An, China Merchants Bank, Vanke and Tencent.
Four enterprises headquartered in Shenzhen — TCL, ZTE, Huawei and BYD — are ranked among the top 10 on the 2018 Social Responsibility Development Index for Private Enterprises. China Ping An, Vanke, Tencent, D.S Agriculture and Aishidi also entered the list this year.
China Merchants Bank and China Merchants Group are ranked among the top 100 State-owned enterprises regarding social responsibility development in 2018.
The research team found that in 2018, the social responsibility development index of China’s top 300 enterprises was 34.4 points. The index has shown an upward trend over the past decade, rising from 15.2 points in 2009 to the current 34.4.
