A resident recently complained to the Shenzhen Evening News that a natural gas project conducted in Dawang Village in Luohu District was the cause of great inconveniences, as many of the roads have been dug up. Other modification projects for water, electricity and fire services on the site have made the road situation even worse.

Dawang Village is located at the foot of Wutong Mountain beside Shenzhen Reservoir. The reporter visited the site and found no road untouched in the area.

Xinjiaodi Road is the village’s main road, lined with a kindergarten named Golden Apple and many other shops. Currently, with the various ongoing modification projects, cars cannot access the village. Other roads in the area have also been dug up for projects.

A resident surnamed Zhao, who runs a convenience store on Xinjiaodi Road, complained to the reporter that the construction waste that had piled up in front of his store concerned him the most.

“The project began this January and, since then, my business has been affected as it causes inconveniences for customers. Besides, we don’t have a place to park the car,” Zhao said.

A female worker, surnamed Wang, at a community convenience service spot in Dawang Community, also said that delivery cars cannot go in and out freely due to the construction projects.

The reporter also found that the situation in Xintian Village, next to Dawang Village, was more serious, where roads are covered by muddy soil with gas tubes and drain pipes piled on both sides and clouds of dust are raised by the work. Forklifts and trucks are constantly going in and out of the road, which causes serious traffic congestion.

Residents hope relevant departments will improve management so projects can be completed more efficiently.
