The operator of PonyCar, a shared-car service platform in Shenzhen, announced Monday that it is no longer requiring a deposit for access to its service.

In a partnership with Sesame Credit, the intended users of PonyCar can try the shared cars when their credit rating reaches 550 points. Those who have paid a deposit can apply to get a refund, according to the announcement by the operator Letuhui Science and Technology Co. Ltd. on Monday after two years of operation in the city.

The company launched its car sharing service in the Shenzhen High-tech Park in Nanshan District two years ago. At present, PonyCar has designated more than 300 service sites, where users can pick up and return the cars. The fare is 1-1.5 yuan (US$0.15-0.22) per kilometer. The company’s major targets are the first-tier cities in China, such as Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, as well as some second-tier cities.
