Shenzhen will grant subsidies for new energy vehicles that were licensed in 2018, according to a rule released by Shenzhen’s finance commission and the development and reform commission last week.
The subsidies, which will be given out at different rates in three stages, include subsidies for the procurement of new energy vehicles, subsidies for the construction of charging poles and subsidies for recycling batteries, according to a report in the Shenzhen Economic Daily yesterday.
Between Jan. 1 and Feb. 11, new energy vehicles that were licensed last year can receive the subsidies according to the standard in 2017. The vehicles that were licensed between Feb. 12 and June 11 can get subsidies at 70 percent of the standard in 2017. While vehicles that were licensed between June 12 and Dec. 31 will get subsidies at half the 2017 standard.
For the construction of charging poles, the government will offer 600 yuan (US$88.80) per kW to each of the direct current charging facilities, and 300 yuan per kW for the alternating current facilities. The authorities further divided the alternating current facilities into two categories, those above 40kW or below 40kW, which will get subsidies at 300 yuan and 200 yuan, respectively, for each kW.
For battery recycling, car sellers are allowed to calculate at the 20-yuan-per-kilowatt-hour standard. Correspondingly, the government will offer subsidies to encourage enterprises to recall batteries.
Shenzhen is the first city to offer subsidies for battery recycling.
Under the city’s plan, by 2020, the city will establish a battery recycling monitoring system over electric vehicles.
