Cultural events ready for holiday

With the Spring Festival less than a week away, the city has prepared an array of cultural activities for residents to enjoy over the holiday, the Shenzhen Evening News reported.

According to incomplete statistics, more than 100 large cultural programs will take place in the city during the Spring Festival. Meanwhile, municipal cultural venues will continue to be open to the public for free during the holiday.

Shenzhen Library, joining hands with the national library, will continue carrying out a series of offline and online cultural activities themed “Our Chinese Dream.” An exhibition on Spring Festival customs will also be held on the first floor of the library.

In addition to various permanent exhibitions, Shenzhen Museum will also exhibit substances and apparatuses used in the Tang Dynasty from the seventh to ninth centuries, ancient bronzeware and relics featuring Chinese zodiac signs.

Jointly held by the National Museum of China and the Shenzhen government, the ancient bronzeware exhibition is the largest and highest-level bronzeware exhibition ever held by the national museum.

Additionally, the third China Design Exhibition and Public Art Thematic Exhibition held at the Shenzhen Museum of Contemporary Art and Urban Planning and a folk woodblock Spring Festival picture exhibition at the Shenzhen Art Museum will also provide residents with options for appreciating high art.

Shenzhen Theater will serve an artistic feast at 3 p.m. every day from Thursday to Feb. 14. There are also many special folk music concerts being held at Shenzhen Concert Hall during the holiday.

Festive events will be launched in various districts. For instance, more than 20 Spring Festival-themed activities will be held in Nanshan District. Bao’an District will host performances, such as lion dancing Tuesday.

Activities related to the Lantern Festival will be held in Longgang District, and lion dancing competitions will be held in Guangming District and Dapeng New Area.
