Shenzhen and Guangzhou will build a pilot zone to promote cruise tourism in China , according to information released at a provincial culture and tourism meeting Wednesday.

It has been said that the exit-and-entry procedures at the borders between Guangdong and Hong Kong, and Guangdong and Macao will be streamlined for visitors on cruise tours and to boost self-guided yacht tours in the Greater Bay Area.

The year 2019 is considered an important year for the integrated development of culture, tourism, reform and innovation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area. Guangdong Province will focus on cultural heritage and historical tours across the province, the Shenzhen Economic Daily reported yesterday.

The province will take full advantage of the economic function of cultural tourism and implement strategies, such as combining cultural tourism with finance, technology, the Internet and education, to boost the cultural service and the tourism industry with creative content.

To fully put the development plan of the Greater Bay Area into practice, Guangdong will cooperate with Hong Kong and Macao to build cultural and recreational facilities in the area and forge a cultural and tourism highland with international standards.

Guangdong Province has also proposed cultural exchange activities in various fields like Canton Opera.
