A delegation of foreign journalists from four different media organizations was invited by the local organizing committee to report on the 2019 Shenzhen Belt & Road International Music Festival, which kicked off Sunday, to let the festival’s spirit reach people around the world.

After the opening ceremony and gala concert of the music festival, foreign journalists also attended the concert, Encounter — Music Carnival of the Silk Road, which was held Monday night in Bao’an, and interviewed musicians and artists there.

Han Wangxi, vice director of the executive committee of the music festival, met with the four journalists from RTV Slovenia, Polish Radio, Classiquenews and LUSA- Portuguese News Agency yesterday morning.

“I believe that music has the power to connect people. When listening to other countries’ music, even though we might not understand the languages, we can feel the emotion of the music. We are open-minded about different cultures and want to bring the best musicians to audiences,” said Han.

Asked by Uros Lipuscek, a correspondent with RTV Slovenia in Beijing, about the future plans for the Shenzhen music festival, Han said that he wants to continue to hold the festival over the next 10 or even 20 years.

Another correspondent, Rafael Henrique Zerbetto with Classiquenews, spoke highly of the preparations for the music festival and the performances.
