The 15th China International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) kicks off at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center and 66 subvenues across the city May 16, presenting a cornucopia of cultural events to the public until Monday.

A total of 2,312 government agencies, enterprises and institutions will set up booths at the exhibition center, the main venue of ICIF, and 132 overseas companies and agencies from more than 50 countries and regions will also participate as exhibitors.

Nine halls at the main venue provide an exhibition space of 105,000 sqm, displaying the latest in cultural products, animation, publishing, fashionable designs, arts and crafts, and intangible culture heritage items.

The 30,000-sqm Hall 1 highlights the celebration of the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China and achievements of China’s cultural reform and development.

Hall 5, which is specifically designated for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, has attracted high-quality cultural enterprises and creative design firms from the Greater Bay Area, showcasing the innovation and advancement of the cultural industries.

The fair has also set up an exhibition area to display the latest achievements of the integration of culture and tourism, and traditional media and new media.

In Hall 2, provincial industrial clusters focusing on cultural tourism will display historical sites, cultural landscapes, all-for-one tourism demonstration areas, theme parks and top-quality art performance projects. Match-making activities of special bonds and investment funds for the cultural tourism industry are also scheduled to happen.

For instance, Fujian Province will demonstrate its rich cultural tourism heritage and key cultural tourism promotion projects. Moreover, visitors can interact with the electronic sand table at the main entrance of the pavilion, appreciate a slideshow of local tourism scenery and enjoy the artistic performances with cultural characteristics.

A national-level trade fair first launched in 2004, ICIF has witnessed a rapid growth in the number of countries and regions participating in and making purchases at the fair, with the total turnover exceeding 170 billion yuan (US$24.7 billion).
