During the test, the train ran at different speeds, such as 20 kilometers per hour, 40 kilometers per hour and 60-80 kilometers per hour, between Menghai Station and Gaoxin South Station.

The test checked the power supply, signal, communication, tracks, and mechanical and electric systems. The test also marked the beginning of joint tests of various systems.

The extension starts at Hongshuwan South Station and ends at Qianhaiwan Station. It runs 10.8 kilometers and has 10 stations, including five interchange stations.

In the future, passengers will be able to transfer to Line 5 at Qianwan Station, Line 12 at Nanyou Station, Line 15 at Shenda Station, Line 13 at Yuehaimen Station and Line 11 at Hongshuwan Station. Upon operation, the extension line and Metro Line 9 will together cover Luohu, Futian, Nanshan and Qianhai areas, and the trip between Wenjindu and Qianhai will be cut to 44 minutes.
