During the exhibition, eight young Chinese curators have been invited to present their own curation proposals for the exhibited works. They have the freedom to increase or reduce the current exhibited works in their proposals (each with no more than 10 additions or deletions).

After negotiating with the 37 artists and groups, the gallery and the event initiator Cui Cancan, they should submit their proposals, which will then be reviewed at a two-day forum in September and finally be published together in a book.

“Curation is regarded as the re-creation of exhibitions and the works displayed. It is an action with infinite possibilities and variables. Thus, curation becomes ‘the action of design,’” said Cui, an independent curator. “There are hundreds of ways to tell a story and the eight curators will combine and reconstruct the exhibited works and projects based on their own academic background and concepts,” he added.

The exhibited works were arranged by Cui into five sections: “The Profile of Curation,” “The Boundless World,” “Urban Sonata,” “The End of the Earth” and “Virtual Reality.” Most of the artists are internationally sought-after. The eight invited young curators are Feng Xi, Li Jia, Li Jie, Miao Zijin, Wang Weiwei, Wang Che, Wang Jiang and Wang Lin.

Cui is an active independent curator. He won the CCAA (Chinese Contemporary Art Award) Youth Honor Award and Critics’ Award in Chinese Contemporary Art by YISHU (Journal of Contemporary Chinese Art).
