An Uzbekistan media delegation with around 20 representatives visited Shenzhen Press Group yesterday morning. Both sides showed interest in developing cultural exchanges and media cooperation.

The delegation visited the group’s media control and supervision center to learn about the group’s history and integrated media development, and toured offices of the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily before joining a meeting with the group’s leadership.

During the meeting, Chen Yin, president of Shenzhen Press Group and Shenzhen Journalists’ Association, first extended a warm welcome to the delegation led by Abdusaid Kochimov with the Uzbekistan national news agency.

Chen then gave a basic introduction of the group to the delegation. Given that Uzbekistan is an important partner of China’s Belt and Road Initiative, Chen appreciated the visit and said it was a good response to the initiative.

“We hope to strengthen the cooperation between Shenzhen’s news industry and its counterpart in Uzbekistan to tell the stories of the Belt and Road,” said Chen.

At the same time, Chen invited Uzbekistan to attend next year’s China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair to promote cultural exchange and trade between the two sides.

The Uzbekistan delegation showed gratitude for the reception and said that China is currently the country’s biggest trading partner and almost every state in Uzbekistan is home to Chinese firms.

Besides seeking cooperation, the delegation is also hoping to bring back Shenzhen’s valuable reform experiences as the country has just launched its own economic reform by setting up several special economic zones.
