Shenzhen enterprises won four gold prizes at the 20th China Patents Awards and five gold prizes at the 5th Guangdong Patents Awards for 2018, sources from Shenzhen market supervision said.
The four national gold prize winners are Shenzhen Salubris Pharmaceuticals Co. Ltd., Shenzhen Main Power Industrial Co. Ltd., Winners’ Sun Plastic & Electronic (Shenzhen) Co. Ltd. and Shenzhen UBtech Co. Ltd.
The gold prizes won by Shenzhen enterprises made up 13 percent of the total.
Shenzhen enterprises also won nine silver awards and three silver awards for product appearance designs.
At the Guangdong Patent Awards, Tencent, Huawei, DJI, CSOT and Appotronics won gold prizes, accounting for 33 percent of the province’s total.
The awards show that Shenzhen enterprises like Huawei, ZTE, Tencent and BYD continue to maintain the leading advantages in innovation, while some emerging enterprises are also showing their strength in innovation and competitiveness in cutting-edge technologies. Some enterprises have taken leading positions in AI, chips, 5G, bio-pharmacy and robotics.
Guangdong offers 300,000 yuan (US$42,551) for each gold prize winner and 200,000 yuan for silver prize winners.
The award is 1 million yuan for the national patent and appearance design gold prize winners. The award for silver prize winners is 500,000 yuan.
