Export increases by 3.8%

Shenzhen's trade volume reached 2.39 trillion yuan (US$341 billion) in the first 10 months, sources from Shenzhen Customs said yesterday.

Exports made up 1.35 trillion yuan of the total, an increase of 3.8 percent.

The exports to European and ASEAN countries continued to increase.

The exports to ASEAN countries reached 354.1 billion yuan, an increase of 2.2 percent, and to European Union they totaled 254.7 billion yuan, an increase of 15 percent.

Additionally, the exports to Belt and Road countries increased by 12.5 percent to 269.8 billion yuan, making up 20 percent of the city’s total export.

The export of general trade is still the main impetus of the city’s foreign trade. Between January and October, the export of general trade reached 620 billion yuan, an increase of 9.2 percent, leveraging a four-percentage-point increase to the city’s total trade.

Private enterprises maintained the lead in trade and expanded their advantage.

In the first 10 months, the trade volume of private enterprises was 1.37 trillion yuan, an increase of 4.4 percent, making up 57.5 percent of the city’s total trade, a 3.9-percent increase over the same period last year.

The export of panel computers, light fittings and porcelain continued to increase momentum. The export of mechanical and electrical products and labor-intensive products reached 1.04 trillion yuan and 154.4. billion yuan, respectively, up by 1.4 percent and 11.5 percent over the same period last year. The export of panel computers, light fittings and porcelain products increased by 34.6 percent, 17.3 percent and 25.4 percent, respectively.

In import, agricultural produce continued to rise to 54.6 billion yuan, showing a 13.4-percent increase year on year. The import of pharmaceuticals also increased by 21.9 percent.
