10 outstanding journalists awarded

The third Shenzhen Journalism Talents Awards ceremony was held Wednesday at Shenzhen Media Group Building, the Shenzhen Special Zone Daily reported.

Li Xiaogan, head of the Publicity Department of the Municipal Committee of the CPC, and Hu Guohua, director of the judges of the Shenzhen Journalism Talents Awards, attended the ceremony and presented the awards.

Chen Bing, Zhao Qing, Deng Huilin, Cui Xia and Liu Xiaoming from Shenzhen Press Group, and Zhang Zheng, Yu Haibin, Gao Mingjie, Guan Yao and Xia Feng from Shenzhen Media Group earned awards. They were selected from 29 candidates from 12 news agencies.

During the ceremony, videos showing the 10 winners’ stories were played. These videos were produced by the judging panel.

Chen Bing, director of the mobile journalists at Shenzhen Special Zone Daily, said that the expression of the facts and opinions in the news must be accurate. Therefore, he is cautious in his writing. The insistence on passion and rigorous professionalism spurred him to constantly innovate for the news.

Zhao Qing, a board member of Shenzhen Evening News, took significant videos of the explosion site at the Qingshuihe warehouse in Luohu District on Aug. 5, 1993. However, he suffered injuries from the second explosion, leaving him with lifelong sequela. Being dedicated to his career for 27 years, he has always been on the front line of news reporting.

Zhang Zheng, executive director of SZTV, is regarded as well-rounded and even a workaholic by her colleagues. She said that TV professionals in the mixed media era have a responsibility to reflect and promote excellent stories for citizens, adding that she will keep her passion for the news and continue to study in order to have the capability and motivation to power further innovation.

The Shenzhen Journalism Talents Awards presents the top honor for excellent professional journalists in Shenzhen.
