The city’s first satellite science education base project in Luotian forest park in Yanluo Subdistrict in Bao’an District was completed recently and is awaiting review, Shenzhen Economic Daily reported.

The base will also be used as a ground station for APSTAR’s satellite communication system to take on monitoring and communication works and to support the city’s broadcasting and television industry once it becomes operational, according to the report.

It is said that the base and its supporting facilities are the country’s first high-throughput broadband satellite communication system.

The Bao’an satellite science education base covers an area of nearly 10,000 square meters, with a building area of 3,192 square meters.

The base includes an exhibition of a rocket satellite, a gallery imitating a rocket launching, a satellite monitoring pavilion and an experience zone, playing a role in spreading knowledge about the aerospace system to the public.

Bao’an District has been attaching great importance to the development of science education.

The district government signed contract with APSTAR in 2016 to jointly build the base.
