Chinese students who have returned from studying abroad can now apply for subsidies ranging from 300,000 yuan (US$42,960) to 1 million yuan to start their own business in Shenzhen, DT News app reported Monday.

A qualified applicant for the subsidies should obtain a qualification certificate of returned overseas students and serve as the legal representative, top executive, or technical director of the company.

The applicant is required to be the shareholder of the company holding shares equivalent to no less than 300,000 yuan. The company should fall into the category of industries supported by Shenzhen and had been registered for six to 36 months as of Dec. 31, 2019.

The subsidies are divided into four categories with differing requirements for applicants. The first three types of subsidies range from 300,000 yuan to 1 million yuan, while a subsidy of up to 5 million yuan will be given to excellent projects after evaluation by experts.

Applicants can submit the applications at https://hrsspub.sz.gov.cn/lxrysb/ until Aug. 31.
