Visitors look around at an exhibition stand displaying hardware equipped with blockchain technologies yesterday.

The applications and achievements of new-generation technologies in 5G, IC (integrated circuit) and new type displays had been the highlight of the three-day 8th China Information Technology Expo (CITE) that ended at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District yesterday.

In the “industrial cluster” exhibition area in Hall 4, more than 60 enterprises were divided into eight sections, showing the applications or technologies at four industrial innovation platforms like 5G-based public service platform, and six project platforms like Kunpeng and Shengteng based all-stack intelligent data platforms developed by Huawei Technologies.

5G can be widely applied in many segmented markets. Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technologies (SIAT) brought their Internet vehicle project, whose technologies and functions can satisfy driverless tests of vehicles at or above intelligence Level 3. Its 5G-powered coordinated system comprised of drones and driverless vehicles can be widely used in disaster detection, alarms and safety guarantees.

“We have cooperated with leading enterprises to set up joint labs and develop innovative projects like the robotics used to detect piston rods of hydraulic hoists in hydropower stations, multiple modal human-machine interactive system for nuclear plants. These products can be used in hydropower stations, intelligent manufacturing and artificial intelligence sectors,” Bi Yalei, director of the development department of SIAT said.

In Hall 4, Shenzhen Robotics Association organized shows of robotics that can be widely used in different industries and sectors and serve the purposes of education, entertainment, household work and mass production.

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the BellaBots, robots for indoor food delivery became popular. As a leading enterprise in indoor food delivery robots, the company had applied its products in canteens, hospitals and food delivery services.

In a canteen of 400 square meters, a robot can deliver dishes 400 times a day, twice the amount a person can. It not only improves efficiency, but also relieves employees of repetitive and boring work, according to the release of the company.

There are 757 enterprises in Shenzhen engaging in the robotics industry at the end of 2019 and total industrial value was 125.7 billion yuan (US$18.1 billion), statistics of the association showed.

Comprising an exhibition area of 100,000 square meters, CITE is one of the first large-scale offline exhibitions since the outbreak of COVID-19 in Shenzhen had been put under control.

Four other expos including the China IT Fair, China IoV Industry Expo, Shenzhen International Big Data and Storage Expo and Shenzhen International Robotics and Intelligent System Expo are synchronized with CITE at the exhibition center. The expositions displayed the latest technologies and products in eight halls, focusing on smart home, 5G, IoT, intelligent Internet, new energy vehicles, intelligent manufacturing and robotics, IC, as well as big data and storage.
