Qianhai Hand Drawing Technology and Culture Co. Ltd. (known as Laihua, its short-video creation platform) underwent rapid development after relocating its business operations back to the free trade area last year. It now has more than 1 million users sharing tens of millions of short videos on its platform.

Set up in Qianhai in 2015, the company had to move its daily operations outside of the free trade area, which at that time was still in the process of infrastructure construction.

The company, among a number of other Qianhai-registered enterprises, was attracted by Qianhai’s preferential policies to relocate the business operations back to the free trade area, which has a large number of quality office buildings available and provides a business-friendly environment.

Wei Bo, CEO of Laihua, delivers a speech.

Wei Bo, Laihua CEO, said that it took them only three months to relocate the company to Qianhai, thanks to the assistance offered by the Qianhai authority.

Wei said his company has undergone fast growth over the past year with Qianhai’s favorable policies on a variety of issues such as office rent subsidies and low-rent housing for talents.

A State and Shenzhen-accredited high-tech enterprise, Laihua produced 28 episodes of short videos sharing anti-epidemic knowledge with a total playback amount of 200 million views this year as the Covid-19 pandemic swept through the world.

Wei said his company has been playing a leading role in the creative and cultural industries in Qianhai. “We are setting up a convergence media lab jointly with Xinhua News Agency, one of our strategic partners,” he said.

Laihua has also signed a strategic cooperation agreement with Qianhai on copyright protection to jointly promote the protection and development of intellectual property rights.
