Shenzhen Polytechnic (SZPT) and Huawei Zhejiang Co. built the country’s first Huawei 5G and digitalization talent education base to jointly cultivate 5G talent.
The education base was inaugurated at the SZPT Liuxiandong campus Tuesday.
The 5G education base is to be operated by the electronics and communication engineering department of SZPT and will closely follow economic and industrial development trends to cultivate 5G-related talent and to promote the development of 5G technology.
SZPT and Huawei also signed a cooperation agreement at the inauguration ceremony. Huawei’s standards, practical training platforms, course resources and certification system will be made available for the cooperation in talent cultivation, course design and the building of practical training rooms.
At Tuesday’s ceremony, Xu Zhibin, vice director of the Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau, observed that the information and communication technology (ICT) industry is a national strategic emerging industry.
Shenzhen has a group of leading companies in the ICT industry such as Huawei and Tencent. Xu said that the cooperation between SZPT and Huawei is a good example of the combination of education and industry.
Xu hoped that SZPT can make full use of the citywide 5G coverage, the education base and its advantages in vocational education to cultivate more talented graduates.
Zhou Jinjun, director of Huawei’s GTS training service and skill training department, said that as 5G construction speeds up, talented employees are the new engine for the industry to go through digital transformation.
Huawei’s 5G technologies will meet SZPT’s demands for 5G-related knowledge teaching, research and development, and social services so as to jointly cultivate innovative technicians.
Yang Xinbin, the president of SZPT, said that the cooperation not only satisfies the city’s effort to build a 5G smart city but also strengthens their long-term cooperation model with Huawei.
Next, SZPT will target the industry demands and improve their cultivation plans to provide solid talent support for companies in the 5G industry and supply chains and to contribute to Shenzhen’s high-quality development.
