Shenzhen Customs seized a total of 47.02 million items that infringed the proprietary rights of their owners between January and September this year.

Following the arrangement of the General Administration of Customs, Shenzhen Customs launched two special actions to protect the intellectual property rights (IPRs), targeting the newly emerged e-commerce business modes and fragmented IPR infringement behaviors.

The items were across 2,300 batches, and involved a total of 24.5 million yuan (US$3.66 million).

The seizures ranked first among Chinese customs in both quantity and value.

On Sept. 30, Dapeng Customs seized 47,000 men’s and women’s shirts among the goods for export that infringed the trademark of the Polo proprietary owners, among others. On Sept. 22, Huanggang Customs seized 4,873 watches, glasses and earphones from products for export that infringed the trademarks of 26 brands, including Louis Vuitton, Gucci and Dior.

Helping enterprises with their legal rights and interests, Shenzhen Customs organized training on IPR protection and risk prevention among 900 enterprises this year.

Meanwhile, it innovatively collaborated with enterprises in information collection, tendency analysis and case handling, and held inter-customs cooperation against the transit of IPR-infringing goods.
