The 34th CBDF China National Standard Dance Championship was held at Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center from Wednesday to yesterday.

The event was first held in Shenzhen in 2008 and came back to the city after 12 years. It is also the only national dancing event held in Shenzhen this year while the world is fighting COVID-19.

Professional college groups competed Wednesday, while modern and Latin dance final competitions were held Thursday. The Guangdong couple of He Chong and Chan Jingyong won the modern dance championship while Li Di and Zhao Lei from Beijing won first prize in Latin dance.

The event’s opening ceremony was held Friday and competitors of the 2021 CBDF national team were unveiled. Modern dance winners Li Sicheng and Liis End, and Latin dance winners Gu Kunxuan and Sun Chenhong, will compete at next year’s dancing competition as members of the national team.

Amateur youth groups competed Saturday and Sunday, with the youngest competitor being 4 years old.

“The CBDF China National Standard Dance Championship is the top dancing event in China after 34 years’ development. More and more high-standard dancers join the competition. Competitors of the youth group increase significantly in recent years,” said Wang Yonggang, chairman of the competition committee and founder of Ganglong Dancing.

The dancing event had a VR live broadcast and online scoring. Judges were from dancing fields from across China, the U.S. and Europe.
