Forum focuses on innovation

The 6th Colleges and Universities President Forum 2020 was held at Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) on Saturday.

The forum was held for the first time in South China and at SUSTech that celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. The event brought together around 60 leaders from 54 universities and colleges in China to exchanges views concerning the development of education in the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-2025).

Chen Shiyi, an academic of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and former president of SUSTech, said that SUSTech has provided talent and research outcomes to Shenzhen throughout the past decade. “In the future, we should learn from Stanford and MIT to deepen the integration of industry into education, and incubate more unicorns for Shenzhen.”

Tsinghua SIGS is ramping up efforts to prepare international talent for the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, according to Ma Lan, vice dean of Tsinghua SIGS.

A list of China’s universities with the most societal influence was announced at the event.
