Founded in 1980, Shenzhen Cultural Center (originally known as Shenzhen Mass Art Center) is subordinated to Culture, Sports and Tourism Administration of Shenzhen Municipality as a public mass cultural service institution. The center mainly focuses on planning and implementing activities under major themes for the city and all kinds of mass cultural and artistic activities, including: conducting various non-profit art trainings, exhibitions and lectures, organizing the construction of Shenzhen Cultural Center Station Alliance; organizing the creation of mass literature works, collecting cultural and artistic heritage from the folk, establishing mass art resources database, constructing cultural volunteer service teams, and developing mass culture theory research. With a total construction area of 7,051 m2, the center is equipped with various service facilities including all kinds of artistic training and exhibition halls, cinema, theater, and recording studio. In addition, it has built a series of cultural activity brands like "Public Culture and Art Training," "The Weekend Theater," "Cultural and Sports Festival for Migrant Young Workers in Shenzhen," "Autumn in Shenzhen," "Citizens Culture Festival," "Shenzhen Children's Flower Festival," "Into the Palace of Art," "Cultural Volunteering Benefits Peng Cheng" and "Youth Cultural Service Month" with fruitful creative works. The art performance teams of the center have made great achievements in various charity performances and art competitions.
