Dongshan Temple

Shenzhen is a very modern city, but if you want to experience a touch of history, Dongshan Temple is a perfect choice. The temple was built in 1394 during the Ming Dynasty. At that time, it is said that fengshui master Lai Buyi came to Dapeng Bay and found that Dongshan Longtou Rock Mountain was a blessed place. He then told villagers here to build a temple to protect them from disasters and safeguard their homes; hence, Dongshan temple was built. According to historical accounts, the temple has been rebuilt three times over the past six centuries.
