Shekou Sea World

Chinese name: 海上世界, Hǎishàng Shìjiè

A Nanshan highlight is this outdoor dining and lifestyle hub designed around, of all things, a vintage cruise liner. Westernstyle bars and restaurants around the ship pull in an international crowd, and it gets lively at weekends.

The ship, rechristened the Minghua when China purchased it from France in the 1970s, was later converted into a nautically

themed hotel and restaurant complex after the land around its berth was reclaimed and it became landlocked. A light and fountain show erupts every night in the artificial lake surrounding the ship.

Add: 1128 Wanghai Lu, Shekou (蛇口望海路1128号)

Admission: free; 24 hours

Metro: Line 2/8 to Sea World, Exit A
