

Nanshan Museum

Shenzhen Nanshan Museum is a large-scale cultural expo institution, approved by the Nanshan District CCP Committee and District Government. With a building area of about 50,000 m2, the museum is one of the largest museums at district and county level in China. It is responsible for the operation of three state-owned museums, namely the Nanshan Museum, Nantou Ancient City Museum, and Tianhou Temple Museum; the micro-museums in Nantou Ancient City; the maintenance and management of Che Yu's Former Residence Memorial Hall and the Mausoleum of Zhao Bing; the preservation and restoration of cultural relics and historical buildings such as the ancient city walls, South Gate and North Gate of Nantou Ancient City, Dongguan Assembly Hall, Baode Temple, Duke of Xinguo, Xin'an Ancient Government Office and Guandi Temple; the research on Nanshan history and culture.
As a large comprehensive museum, it covers an area of about 19,000 m2, a building area of 36,000 m2, and a total exhibition hall area of about 7,000 m2. It can undertake all kinds of exhibitions of the highest specifications and requirements. Through the Nanshan Stories Exhibition, 3 permanent exhibition halls showcase the development of Nanshan's splendid history from the cultural origin of Shenzhen and Hong Kong to a pioneer of the reform and opening-up, and then to an innovative and modern coastal district in the Greater Bay Area. The largest one covers about 1,900 m2 of the 4 temporary halls, which is one of the bases of patriotic education in Shenzhen.

Opening hours: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday (last admission at 5:30 p.m.), 8 p.m. - 9 p.m. on Saturday night (last admission at 8:30 p.m.), and closed on Mondays (except major national holidays). Special circumstances will be announced separately.
