Tianhou Temple Museum

Located in Chiwan of Shenzhen, with Nanshan to its rear and facing Lingdingyang (bay), the Tianhou Temple Museum is a folk museum exploring specific subjects, covering an area of more than 28,000 m2 with a building area of more than 8,000 m2. Formerly the site of Chiwan Tin Hau Temple, it was a key and important stop on the ancient Maritime Silk Road. What's more, it was the largest and most influential Tianhou Temple in the coastal area of South China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. There are many ancient structures in the Tianhou Temple Museum, including ancient archways, mountain gates, and main halls. It has five exhibition halls, including the Chiwan Tin Hau Temple History Exhibition and the Sandbeach Farewell and Ocean Culture Exhibition, the Tianhou Temple Museum is a significant institution in the Pearl River Delta in the collection and study of Tianhou relics and culture. It is a cultural site protected at the city level in Shenzhen.

Opening hours:

a) 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. from Tuesday to Sunday

b) 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. on the 1st and 15th day of each lunar month

c) Closed on Mondays (except major holidays and traditional folk festivals, the 1st, the 15th and the 16th day of each lunar month)
