Shenzhen Grand Theater

Shenzhen Grand Theater is one of the eight cultural facilities invested and built by the government at the beginning of the special economic zone. Since May 1989, it has always adhered to the principle of "promoting excellent national culture, supporting and advocating elegant art," witnessed Shenzhen's reform and opening-up, and demonstrated Shenzhen's cultural oasis. It is a milestone in the cultural development of Shenzhen, known as the "Palace of Elegant Art" in Shenzhen, and the pride of Shenzhen culture.

Over the 32 years, it has hosted lots of important art performances, such as "The Psalm to Pioneers for Celebration of the 10th Anniversary of the Founding of Shenzhen SEZ," "Farewell Literary and Artistic Evening Performance for Hong Kong Garrison," "The Literary and Artistic Evening Performance Motherland, Shenzhen Wants to Say to You in Memory of the 20th Anniversary of the Founding of Shenzhen SEZ," "The Literary and Artistic Evening Performance Pursue Dreams and Start off Firstly in Memory of the 40th Anniversary of the Founding of Shenzhen SEZ," "ICIF Art Festival," "Shenzhen Theater Festival," "Shenzhen Belt & Road International Music Festival," "Shenzhen Piano Music Festival" and "Shenzhen Forest Concert." In 1992, the Shenzhen Grand Theater Art Festival was founded. With the theme of "collecting the essence of international art, showing the splendor of the stage in the Shenzhen SEZ," it was recorded in the history of Shenzhen Culture with the evaluation of "unique conception, strict organization, wide influence and fruitful achievements" and became the cultural card of Shenzhen. In 2011, the Shenzhen Grand Theater Philharmonic Orchestra was founded. It is the second symphony orchestra named after the National Center for the Performing Arts (NCPA). In October 2017, the Shenzhen Grand Theater Choir was founded. In July 2022, Shenzhen Grand Theater Youth Philharmonic Orchestra was founded. Besides, it has also organized critically acclaimed charity shows, such as "New Year Art Caring Performance," "Grand View," "Flying Theater," "Popular Concert of Shenzhen Grand Theater Philharmonic Orchestra," "Prenatal Education Concert" and "Music Week for Youth."
