One of China's four major international deep-water ports, Yantian Port in the northwest part of Dapeng Bay is comprised of the Yantian terminal area, Xiadong port area and the Guangdong Dapeng LNG Wharf. Put in operation in July 1994, the Yantian terminal area has 15 berths for large container vessels of 100,000 tons and three berths for multipurpose use, and operates about 100 international routes. The Xiadong port area, with nine berths, handles crude oil, LNG and other hazardous chemicals. The Dapeng LNG Wharf is located in the Chengtoujiao area of Dapeng Peninsula. It has a berth that can accommodate 80,000-ton LNG vessels and has a 5,000-ton working boat.
