Shenzhen Shatoujiao Fish Lantern Festival

Shenzhen Shatoujiao Fish Lantern Festival is jointly established by Shenzhen and Yantian District Intangible Cultural Heritage Protection Departments. It is a festival themed on the traditional national intangible cultural heritage item fish lantern dance culture in Shalanxia Village of Shatoujiao. It was held in 2011 and supported by the special fund for the development of Shenzhen publicity and cultural undertakings, and has been held for 12 sessions. As the first intangible cultural heritage protection project, the festival aims to use the platform to display and exchange the achievements and inheritance, and strengthen the protection and inheritance of the fish lantern dances. The activities are rich in forms, including intangible cultural heritage theme activities and performances, fish lantern weaving training courses, campus fish lantern dance training courses, and special academic forums on the inheritance and protection of fish lantern dances. Today, it has become an important municipal public welfare cultural activity in Shenzhen and a permanent funding project of Shenzhen Publicity and Culture Fund, playing an active and important role in promoting the dissemination of intangible cultural heritage.
