Beautiful Sunday

The "Beautiful Sunday" is a series of public performances sponsored by the Publicity Department of Shenzhen Municipal Committee of the CPC and Culture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau of Shenzhen Municipality and jointly held by Shenzhen Concert Hall. Initiated in October 2007, this activity is held at 3 p.m. every Sunday in the Symphony Hall of Shenzhen Concert Hall. Aiming at music popularization and music education, "Beautiful Sunday" invites artists to popularize music in the form of combining speeches and performances, so as to improve the music appreciation and music literacy of the citizens in a subtle way. It mainly consists of symphony concert, chamber music, folk music, vocal music, chorus, music lecture and so forth, and has formed performance series like "Music Guidance and Appreciation Concert," "Music Lecture", and "Community Program" etc. Up to now, "Beautiful Sunday" has hosted more than 500 performances and lectures, benefiting about 600,000 viewers. It has not only created a precedent for a free access to enjoy elegant music domestically, but also been one of the largest-scale public welfare performance projects which lasts the longest in China.
