Founded in the mid-1980s, the Fuwai Hospital Chinese Academy of Medial Sciences is the only public cardiovascular-specialized hospital in Shenzhen. Approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and the National Health Commission, it is a public hospital integrating medical treatment, research, teaching, health care, and disease prevention.

Covering an area of 7,000 square meters with a floor area of 9,000 square meters, this hospital in Luohu District has 100 hospital beds, and an annual outpatient and emergency capacity of 180,000. Due to increasing needs, a new campus has been built on 12 Langshan Road in Nanshan District that covers an area of 22,458.16 square meters, with floor area of 88,470 square meters, and has 600 beds. The new campus was officially opened July 1, 2017 with 13 inpatient wards (including ICU and CCU), a health management center, outpatient and emergency clinics, special clinics, and medical and technical departments.
