The University of Hong Kong Shenzhen Hospital (HKU-SZH) is a major comprehensive public hospital built by the Shenzhen city government with an introduction of the modern management model of The University of Hong Kong. With an investment of 4 billion yuan (US$588 million), the hospital has a total floor space of 367,000 square meters on 192,000 square meters of land. With 2,000 beds currently in service, the hospital has commenced its second phase expansion project, which will bring the total number of beds to 3,000 upon completion, according to information on the hospital's website.

Since its opening July 1, 2012, HKU-SZH has progressively introduced advanced hospital management experience and medical technology of international standards to deliver high-quality health-care services to the public. Through Shenzhen-Hong Kong cooperation, the hospital has leveraged on The University of Hong Kong's internationally renowned clinical specialties to establish centers of Reproductive Medicine, Oncology, Cardiovascular Diseases, Orthopedics and Traumatology, Organ Transplantation, and Infectious Diseases. The hospital has also set up an International Medical Center to provide quality advanced medical services that meet international standards.
