Ultra-high-definition video display industry

In order to seize the opportunities brought by the development of ultra-high-definition video displays, accelerate the development of the ultra-high-definition video display industry cluster, promote the industry to the high end of the value chain, and build new advantages for the industry, Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission, Shenzhen Municipal Science, Technology and Innovation Commission, the Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau and the Shenzhen MunicipalCulture, Radio, Television, Tourism and Sports Bureau have released an action plan for cultivating and developing an ultra-high-definition video display industry cluster (2022-2025).

Development status

Shenzhen already has an ultra-high-definition video display industry cluster with competitive advantages and driving functions. In 2021, the main operating revenue of the industry reached about 290 billion yuan, ranking first in the country. The shipment volume of ultra-high- definition video display terminals accounts for an important share of the global total.The self-sufficiency rate of key materials such as polarizers, mask plates and panel manufacturing equipment has increased significantly. Applications for industrial testing, culture, education and entertainment, and other fields also hold a leading position nationwide. Meanwhile, the acquisition modules and complete machineshave reached the first-class level in China. With a relatively complete industrial chain layout, Shenzhen has gradually developed a strong and competitive ultra-high-high-definition video display industry.

Objectives

(1) Continuously leading in industry scale.By 2025,the main operating revenue of the ultra-high-definition video display industry is expected to exceed 450 billion yuan. The city will nurture more than eight firms with revenue of more than 10 billion yuan each, and more than 20 firms with revenue of more than 1 billion yuan each. Shenzhen is expected to lead the world in shipments and market share of large-size panels and ultra-high-definition video display terminals. The city will become the world's important technological innovation hub and a high-end production and manufacturing base for the whole industrial chain of ultra-high-definition video displays.

(2) Significant improvement in innovation capacity.The innovation system of the ultra-high-definition video display industry will be gradually improved. Five industrial collaborative public service platforms and eight industry-university-research joint laboratories will be built. Breakthroughs will be made in key areas such as ultra-high-definition video display transmission, basic software, and new displays. The collaborative innovation ability of the industrial chain will be significantly improved.The coordinated effect of industry,university and research will be significantly enhanced, and the public service support capacity of the industry will be dramatically improved.

(3) Gradually improving industrial layout. Shenzhen will build more than 30 ultra-high-definition video display application demonstration projects and see significant improvement in the level of core device autonomy as well as thesupporting ability of the production process. The city will further consolidate the leading position enjoyed bylocal terminal machine manufacturing, further enhance the market scale and demonstration effect of industry applications, and continue to improve the ecosystem of the ultra-high definition video display industry.
