Intelligent terminal industry

In order to accelerate the development of the intelligent terminal industry cluster, Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau, Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission and the Shenzhen Municipal Science, Technology and Innovation Commission have formulated an action plan for fostering and developing this (2022-2025).

Development status

The intelligent terminal industry is an important strategic emerging industry in Shenzhen, with an added value of 209.2 billion yuan in 2021. The supporting capacity of the industrial chain is strong, bringing together a number of complete machine firms, advanced manufacturing firms, and suppliers of key components to create an intelligent terminal industrial system integrating core component research and development, OEM production, and complete brand machines.

Objectives

(1) Continuous expansion of industrial scale.By 2025,the added value of the intelligent terminal industry is expected to top 270 billion yuan, the output of major products will significantly increase, and the production capacity of smartphones, smart TVs, smart watches, and other advantageous terminal products will be further enhanced.

(2) Significant improvement in firms’competitiveness.The city will nurture one or two firms with the capacity to manufacture 1+X+N full-range products, and cultivate at least 15 “single champions” and “small giants”in different segments of the manufacturing industry.

(3) Continuous improvement in innovation and manufacturing capabilities. Shenzhen will build an intelligent terminal manufacturing innovation center, invest in no fewer than 10 projects essential for the industrial chain, create a number of innovation platforms, build one or two “lighthouse factories” and set up a number of smart factories and digital workshops.
