Laser and additive manufacturing industry

In order to accelerate the development and expansion of the laser and additive manufacturing industry cluster, the Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Technology Bureau, Shenzhen Municipal Development and Reform Commission the and Shenzhen Municipal Science, Technology and Innovation Commissionhave formulated an action plan to achieve this goal over a three-year period (2022-2025).

Development status

Shenzhen serves as the home of an important laser and additive manufacturing industry cluster in China.The industrial scale, and number of firms and effective patents lie at the forefront of the country.An industrial ecosystem covering the whole chain of materials, devices, software, equipment, and application services has started to take shape.Multi-module continuous optical-fiber lasers, high-power laser-cutting heads, and battery welding equipment are at the forefront in the country. In 2021, the added value of Shenzhen’s laser and additive manufacturing industry reached 7.3 billion yuan.

Objectives

(1) Sustained leading industry scale.By 2025,the added value of the industry is expected to reach 14 billion yuan, and 10 new manufacturing“single champions,”“small giants”and “unicorns”will emerge.

(2) Steady improvement of innovation capacity.By 2025,substantial breakthroughs will be made in key areas such as basic materials, core components, supporting software, and high-end devices. Meanwhile, one provincial-level or above manufacturing innovation center and 10 enterprise technology centers will be added.

Deep integration of industrial applications.By 2025,a number of “laser +”and “3D printing +”intelligent manufacturing application demonstration projects will be created around the advantageous fields of 3C electronics, new energy, and new displays.
