Huaqiangbei electronics street

From: Shenzhen Municipal Talent Affairs Bureau

If a contest was held to name the most famous street in Shenzhen, Huaqiangbei, dubbed "China's No. 1 electronics street," could easily run off with the title. It developed from a "one-meter counter" in the 1990s to a "paradise of knock-off products" at the beginning of the century. Nowadays it stands as a heady mix: a unique and sprawling commercial block that boasts the latest in technology, fashion and culture. It is also the birthplace of some of China’s most storied tech giants like Tencent, Shenzhou, and TP-Link, bolstering the myth of Shenzhen’s streets being paved with gold. Focusing on the business of electronic products, Huaqiangbei has even been named a 3A-rated tourist attraction.

Shopping in Huaqiangbei is, of course, reserved for those hunting for electronic products. With 20 types of professional electronics markets within its ranks, Huaqiangbei covers all aspects of the upstream and downstream supply chain of the electronics industry. Here, consumers searching for specific electronic products will find the world is their oyster, while other shoppers can snap up cell phones, computers, cameras, and any other electronic products for the lowest prices. In addition, Huaqiangbei launches, every now and then, some new "black technology" for the world, meaning shoppers can get the most value for the least amount of investment.

Bustling Huaqiangbei not only sells electronics, but also has a wealth of retail department stores under its cloak, including specialty restaurants, clothing markets, and especially the snack food market, a veritable paradise for foodies.
