The first Shenzhen Fashion Week raised its curtain at the OCT Harbor in Nanshan District, Shenzhen on March 19, 2015, gathering top fashion designers from home and abroad.

Hosted by Shenzhen Municipal Government, and jointly organized by the Shenzhen Municipal Industry and Information Bureau, and the city's garment association, the intent of Shenzhen Fashion Week is to create a new top platform of the world's fashion industry on par with the Paris, Milan, London and New York fashion weeks in the global fashion scene, and help make Shenzhen one of the global fashion capitals.

Shenzhen's women wear industry has been regarded as the trendsetter in China, with its number of garment brands, the total economic value, market share and the number of listed fashion companies topping the nation.

Shenzhen Fashion Week has become a a business card showcasing the city's fashion and culture industry, with its organization, scale and the internationalization level rapidly improving. It has become one of the three major fashion weeks in China and also became a part of the sequence of international fashion weeks.

Shenzhen Fashion Week now plays a positive role in boosting the transformation and upgrading of Shenzhen's fashion industry, enhancing Shenzhen's cultural soft power and helping push forward its internationalization drive.
