In a bid to boost its energy storage sector, Shenzhen will hold an international digital energy fair for the first time, according to a city government press conference yesterday.
The 2023 International Digital Energy Expo (IDEE), which will take place from June 29 to July 2 at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center, is expected to receive more than 400 exhibitors from more than 100 countries and regions on an exhibition area of 50,000 to 60,000 square meters.
The fair, featuring a wide range of exhibition themes such as new energy and new power systems, has attracted a number of well-known enterprises in the energy storage industry, including China Southern Power Grid, BYD, and Siemens Energy, as well as research institutes such as CUHK, UMAC and Shenzhen BIT-MSU University.
A total of eight forums and events will be held during the four-day event, centering on new power systems, energy storage and new energy digitalization.
“Shenzhen is one of the pilot cities to develop the new energy industry,” Li Baohua, secretary general of Greater Bay Area (Shenzhen) Electrochemical Energy Storage Industry Alliance, told the press conference. “With a booming electrochemical energy storage sector, Shenzhen has issued a series of policies to further promote its development. The sector has witnessed great improvements in industrial scale, innovation and application.”
Currently, there are nearly 7,000 enterprises engaged in the energy storage industry in Shenzhen and they’ve yielded a number of major innovative achievements in the field of energy storage in recent years, which makes the city a leading player in the global energy storage sector.
