Wickramasinghe Arachchilage Weeraratne from Sri Lanka, known affectionately as the “Master of Exhibitions” among his friends and colleagues, visited the 19th China (Shenzhen) International Cultural Industries Fair (ICIF) in search of business opportunities.

Weeraratne, managing director of Hong Kong Concord Rich Trading Ltd., has an office in Shenzhen. He was particularly interested in digital technologies applied in cultural products, as well as next-generation technologies showcased at this year’s fair held at the Shenzhen World Exhibition & Convention Center in Bao’an District.

“At the cultural fair, it is amazing that you can experience the rich Chinese culture under one roof. I am looking for some VR and 3D special lighting products, and smart products for exports,” Weeraratne told Shenzhen Daily yesterday.

He said that ICIF’s scale had grown in recent years compared to those held at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District.

As a “Master of Exhibitions,” Weeraratne said he had attended a total of 1,600 fairs over the past decade.

He had attended the China Hi-Tech Fair for 14 consecutive years since relocating from Hong Kong to Shenzhen in 2008. He had also visited the China Import and Export Fair (Canton Fair) in Guangzhou for 40 times.

“In these fairs, you can find new things, especially in tech; and you can find more business opportunities,” Weeraratne said.
