Smart urban solutions shine at exhibition

The 2023 Shenzhen (International) Urban Environment and Landscape Industrial Exhibition is showcasing a wide range of smart urban management solutions such as smart street lamps, smart street benches and smart trash bins, among others.

The exhibition, the first in the country featuring the city appearance industry, opened yesterday at the Shenzhen Convention and Exhibition Center in Futian District and will run through Friday.

It attracted 560 exhibitors, most of them leading companies in the environmental sanitation, urban lighting and smart urban management industries, as well as industry insiders and representatives from government departments and research institutions across the country.

The exhibition, themed on beautiful city and better life, covers an area of 45,000 square meters.

A zero-energy consumption building project is a hit at the exhibition. It features a photovoltaic rooftop, which is capable of generating nearly 600,000 kWh of electricity annually, enough to cover its yearly energy consumption. The achievement has earned the building a place among the city’s first batch of zero-energy consumption buildings.

Upon completion, the building will open various sports venues including an indoor swimming pool, a gymnasium and a yoga studio to the public, as well as charging stations for electric vehicles. The building, constructed by Shenzhen Energy Group Co. Ltd., is expected to be put into use next year, according to company staff.

Xu Qiyong, a professor from Peking University, said that the exhibition not only displays Shenzhen’s urban management achievements but also inspires local enterprises.

Hussein Aljada from Iraq learned about the exhibition from his friends.

“I traveled from Jiangmen to Shenzhen to attend the exhibition,” Aljada said.

Aljada, who runs businesses in lighting, LED technology, and related sectors, expressed his hopes of discovering valuable business prospects through the exhibition.

An exhibit named "Homeland" by Shenzhen Fairy Lake Botanical Garden is displayed at the exhibition.
