Westlife

Irish pop vocal group Westlife will give its “The Wild Dreams Tour” concert in Shenzhen soon. Over the years, Westlife has released numerous hit singles and albums.

Piano recitals

Belarusian pianist Katia Jurova will play a few Chinese tunes and pieces by Liszt, Tchaikovsky and Schumann on Friday night. Young Chinese pianist Xue Yingjia will present Brahms’ “Six Pieces for Piano, Op. 118,” “Six Pieces for Piano, Op. 119” and “Variations and Fugue on a Theme by Handel, Op. 24.” On Sunday, Ju Xiaofu will play pieces by Bach, Ravel, Liszt, Shostakovich and Janacek.

Symphonies, chorus

Conducted by Lin Daye, the Shenzhen Symphony Orchestra will perform Richard Strauss’ “Horn Concerto No. 2 in E-flat Major” and his epic “Alpine Symphony” on Friday. Meanwhile, the Cantata Chamber Choir will sing a night of Chinese songs Saturday.

Verdi, Baroque

Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theater singers will present a night of Chinese songs and Verdi’s pieces from classic operas to mark the 210th anniversary of Verdi’s birth. Meanwhile, the Ensemble Baroque Update, consisting of Didier Francois (nyckelharpa), Jurgen de Bruyn (theorbo) and Fredrik Hildebrand (viola da gamba), will transport the audience to the Baroque era with their enchanting music on ancient instruments.
