Chamber music, ‘Lotus’

Beloved Chinese pianist Chen Sa will collaborate with Amber Quartet to give a night of chamber music works by Shostakovich, Schnittke and Mendelssohn on Friday. Meanwhile, the Xianwuren Dance Studio’s dance show “Lotus,” to be staged this weekend, tells the story of a clay modeler at the Dunhuang Mogao Grottoes, who after perceiving the beauty of the lotus, a sacred image in Buddhist poetry, creates a painted statue for the Dunhuang caves.

‘Entropy’

The dance show “Entropy” choreographed by Yin Fang and presented by the Xie Xin Dance Theater borrows the concept of “entropy” from physics, treating the dancers’ bodies as materials, developing an orderly pattern under the body concept, and simulating the dynamic process of “entropy reduction” and “increase of entropy.” In the show, one can see the establishment and changes of order made by humans in various scenes.
