Enjoy free badminton courts in city

Many Shenzhen sports venues open for free, providing fitness activities such as badminton, swimming, tennis, basketball, volleyball, and table tennis. For example, there are seven sports parks that offer free badminton courts to all citizens. It’s time to get to know them and make an appointment.

1. Futian Sports Park (福田体育公园)

Futian Sports Park is a complex that offers venues for sports, culture and leisure activities. Its superior location close to the city center and available convenient transportation ensures easy access for citizens.

Free badminton courts in August are available from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Aug. 1, 8 and 15. Each session is 60 minutes, and reservations are required. Reservations open at 9 a.m. two days ahead of the booking date, and can be canceled up to four hours before the booking time.

Reservation: Official WeChat account “Xinfu Futian”(幸福福田), go to section “福田文体通,” and select“一键预约.” Find the “羽毛球” section, and select the venue “福田体育公园.”

2. Xinxing Community Park (新兴社区公园)

Located in a residential area in Luohu District, Xinxing Community Park is a well-designed garden-style sports venue with modern lighting and greenery designs.

Opening hours: 9 a.m. - 6 p.m.

3. Yantian Sports Center(盐田体育中心)

As one of the competition venues of the 26th Summer Universiade in 2011, the Yantian Sports Center provides various facilities for badminton, ping-pong, basketball, volleyball and martial arts. The venue is surrounded by lush mountains and beautiful scenery with rich tourism resources, attracting more than 20 million visitors every year.

Reservations for the next day may be made starting at 11:30 a.m.

4. Nanshan Cultural and Sports Center (南山文体中心)

Adjacent to Hong Kong and connected to the prosperous area of the western part of Shenzhen, the Nanshan Culture and Sports Center integrates sports events, art performances and training courses with facilities including a theater, an indoor swimming pool, a multi-functional gymnasium and a city square.

5. OCT Sports Culture Center (华侨城体育文化中心)

Opened in 1996, the OCT Sports Culture Center covers an area of 30,000 square meters. The sports center has various sports venues, as well as training programs for badminton, fencing, chess and other sports.

6. Xixiang Sports Center (西乡体育中心)

Covering an area of 63,294 square meters, the Xixiang Sports Center has a standard stadium with a running track, two swimming pools, eight outdoor basketball courts, three outdoor badminton courts and four tennis courts. The sports center is close to Pingluan Mountain, which offers a perfect place for hiking and stunning views.

Each free session lasts 30 minutes. Reservations are open at 12 a.m. every day and can be canceled four hours before the booking time.

7. Shenzhen Universiade Center (深圳大运中心)

Located in Longgang District, the Shenzhen Universiade Center was the main stadium of the 26th Summer Universiade in 2011. As a landmark of Shenzhen, it consists of a main stadium, a main gymnasium, a natatorium, a lake, a fitness center and other fitness facilities.

Please book one day in advance and reservations open at 9 a.m. every day.
