Wutong Mountain Forest Park (Tiger Stream)

Speaking of escaping from the summer heat, the first place comes into many people’s mind is perhaps the Tiger Stream in Wutong Mountain. Within a 10-mintue walk from the foot of Wutong Mountain, the trickling river unveils itself among the green bushes and thick trees. As a long-lasting attraction for many years, the river is full of excitement such as catching fish downstream and appreciating waterfalls higher upstream. The biggest waterfall in the deep forest forms a spectacular view where you can fully embrace the cool moisture. At the same time, there are some stretches with shallows and calm water perfect for kids to enjoy themselves. That’s why even on weekdays, some children are seen with their parents along the river, relaxing from the unbearable hot weather.

Wutong Mountain Forest Park (Yuanyang Valley)

The Yuanyang Valley sitting on the other side of the mountain is also a secret wonderland, where tourists can spot a waterfall immediately at the entrance. The Yuanyang Pool is broader here than Tiger Stream, with green water glimmering under the sun. All the way up along the wooden walkway, the shallow Lanhua Stream is a natural playground for children. The valley is pet friendly but please do not camp or picnic.

Maluan Countryside Park (Bald Cypress Forest)

Maluan Countryside Park is a hidden resort cherished by many Pingshan citizens, especially during the dog days. Along the path on the left side of the sentry station at the northwest gate, a rippling stream leads tourists to a large field of bald cypress trees. Whether it’s the thrilling game of fish catching, or simply a quiet meditation among the secluded forest wood, you can always find pleasure accompanied by the murmuring sound of the leaves. The waterfalls of Maluan in various sizes are also well-known, facing the green and bushy cypresses, creating a wonderful scenery for the hikers walking among them.

Yangmeikeng (Tianran Lake)

Apart from the magnificent sea view, Yangmeikeng also provides a deep forest with a stunning lake. Located at the foot of Qiniang Mountain, Tianran Lake is a natural oxygen bar surrounded by waters and trees. The water comes from the Yangmei River, and the shallow stretch at the upstream is always a great spot for kids to have fun.
