This Saturday, German conductor and organist Hansjörg Albrecht will make his Chinese debut and perform his organ version of “The Ring of the Nibelung.” This will be the Asian premiere of this piece. Meanwhile, Shenzhen Opera and Dance Theater singers will present a night of classic Western opera songs Sunday.

Young violinist Lin Haoli will lead his chamber band to perform classical pieces by Handel, Saint-Saen, Richter and Abreu tomorrow. Another violinist Hannah Tam Wan-ching from Hong Kong will treat locals with her recital featuring tunes by Vitali, Beethoven, Ravel, Mozart, Tchaikovsky and Waxman on Saturday. Also this weekend, Shenzhen City Philharmonic Orchestra will play a night of Disney movie scores. And children shouldn’t miss a puppet show presented by various troupes Sunday night.

‘The Eternal Wave’

Shanghai Dance Theater’s “The Eternal Wave” is based on the real story of Chinese revolutionary martyr Li Bai. In 1938, Li and his wife risked their lives as they secretly transmitted intelligence information via radio to Chinese revolutionaries.

‘The Flowers of War’

A dance production, inspired by Zhang Yimou’s renowned film “The Flowers of War” of the same name, is set to be staged. The show vividly portrays the courage and resilience of a group of women amid the harrowing backdrop of the 1937 Japanese invasion of Nanjing.
